about

Originally released on vinyl by Hands Productions in 2002, in a limited edition of 500 copies. This was part of their "edition [klang]" series, focusing on more experimental and electro-acoustic work. Other Voices was the third part in a series of Orphx releases inspired by acoustic ecology. All sounds were created from location recordings made around the Hamilton area.

"With Other Voices, Orphx takes a more refined approach to the slowly developing organic textures that have always attracted me in their work. Using a multitude of field recordings from The Living Tissue, they impose, or rather reveal, an underlying structure - a metronome-like regularity that gradually unfolds, creating the magic of repetition and rhythm. Other Voices is surprisingly delicate, incredibly graceful in its slow pace, retaining its dark feel - it is a superb combination of cold hypnotic minimalism and enveloping organic depth." - Nezzwerk
